WARNING This comic, along with any future sequels, is set in an alternate universe where Amon is who he said he was in the first place: a scarred revolutionary with powers bestowed upon him by spirits. It's a trippy, creepy variant I would like to keep on exploring.
OH GAWD THIS TOOK SO LONG. AND IT'S JUST PART 1. So here you have it folks, my comic about the kind of Amon I would have liked to see. It's dedicated to all you fellow Amon fans who were less than impressed with the destruction of our favourite villain's entire persona within two short episodes.
General comments: Dude, I really like drawing the Lieutenant. Seriously. He rocks. Gotta love them cheekbones. :3 I've included clues here and there about his own back story, which I'll present in a comic as well, hopefully. BY THE WAY: Amon's eye colour is no accident. No tricky shadow/lighting shenanigans here. Sometimes you see it more clearly, other times you don't, but rest assured that there is no way in colour pixel Hell that they are blue. I don't know about you people, but I kind of picture Amon as an insomniac. He's always so cool and in control... Can you imagine him sleeping? It just seems like too vulnerable a state for him to be in, don't you think? Anyway. I'm rather pleased with the last panel. I think it'll be a good transition to the second part. I don't know when I'll get it done, but I'm definitely planning on finishing this comic. After all, I did spend three hours writing up the scenario.
I agree, they gave too much screen time to the pro bending games, that's for sure. Did you see Part 2 [link] and 3 [link]? They're up. I still have to finish part 4.
Ok, I am fairly certain I praised this to high himmel before but since I have now seen your parts 2 and 3 let me say it again: THANK YOU! Honestly I think of THIS "non-Canon" story as being infinitely more "in-universe" than the last two episodes of LoK, it is immensely gratifying to read. I enjoyed the show, I respect the creators, I look forward to more....but BLOODY HELL they dropped the ball in a great many different ways with the final episodes!
Aw, thank you very much! Believe me, it was gratifying to create. A cathartic experience. Because you're right, the finale was a let down. Respect to the creators indeed for their talent though, and for how much they've inspired me these past few months. <2
Oh, I love this! And I agree, Noatak was cool--but he IS NOT Amon. Just... say it isn't so!
I wish they'd gone ahead with Amon's story and hadn't cheapened it like they did... but Bryke thought they had to wrap the story up, so Amon couldn't get a full season... *sob*

The Lieutenant--I love his catfish mustache! ^_^
I was so bummed with the "cheapened version" of Amon that I simply HAD to take matters into my own crazy hands. Mwhahahha.
